Military Time Pronunciation

How spoken military time is commonly pronounced.

General pattern

Times are usually spoken as two numbers: hours and minutes. Leading zeros are pronounced as "zero" or "oh".

• 0700 — "zero seven hundred" or "oh seven hundred"
• 1500 — "fifteen hundred"
• 1730 — "seventeen thirty"
• 0000 — "zero hundred" or "midnight"

Midnight and noon

0000 is commonly called "midnight" and 1200 is "noon" or "twelve hundred" depending on context.

Minutes

When minutes are not zero, each part is spoken: 08:17 is "zero eight seventeen" and 19:05 is "nineteen oh five".
